Dis connected
The Intervention
Disconnected was our response to the 2021 lockdown. While the world met only on screens, we used the massive concrete facade of the HFF Munich to visualize the gap between digital proximity and physical isolation. We opened up the building’s architecture to create a virtual space where human figures float in a state of perpetual distance—endlessly close, yet unable to touch.

The Method
To pull off the illusion, we modeled the building in 3D and used a forced-perspective "sweet spot" to create a sense of real depth for viewers on the street. The figures were dressed in the typical lockdown uniform (sweatpants and hoodies), with their movements and clothing physically simulated to create a seamless, hypnotic loop. The setup required massive projection power, using 40,000 lumens to override the dark concrete.

The Observation
Running for two weeks every night, the installation became a rare meeting point in a quiet city. Even with social distancing in place, the sheer scale of the projection brought people together to watch. It showed us that even in a time of isolation, large-scale light interventions can reclaim public space and create a shared moment of connection.
